8th Volleyball fall to the Lady Kougars

The Lady Bombers hit the court Tuesday evening to take on a tough Kankakee Valley squad, with both the A and B teams battling hard in two competitive matches. The A team came out strong and kept the pressure on the Lady Kougars but ultimately fell just short in two close sets, 25–22 and 25–20. Their record now stands at 6–2. Serving was steady across the board, led by Madigan Cawby going 4/5, Marlee Graf going 3/5 with 2 aces, Leia Rendant perfect at 3/3 with 1 ace, and Brynlee Wuethrich also a perfect 3/3. Jessa Courtney went 2/4, while Paige Hurley and Azzie Agnew each went 1/1, and Lexi Rehn added 1/3. Passing was impressive with several near-perfect performances — Leia Rendant and Jessa Courtney were flawless at 14/14 and 13/13, Madigan Cawby went 10/10, Nella Lakin 10/11, and Lexi Rehn 8/8. Brynlee Wuethrich added 6/7, Marlee Graf and Paige Hurley each went 5/5, and Azzie Agnew finished 3/3. On defense, Jessa Courtney led the team with 5 digs, followed by Madigan Cawby with 4, and Lexi Rehn, Leia Rendant, Marlee Graf, Paige Hurley, and Azzie Agnew each adding 1. Setting was led by Lexi Rehn with 5 assists, Marlee Graf with 2, and Paige Hurley, Leia Rendant, Brynlee Wuethrich, and Nella Lakin each adding 1. At the net, the Bombers showed great hustle — Lexi Rehn led with 11 tips, followed by Azzie Agnew, Marlee Graf, and Paige Hurley each with 6, Leia Rendant with 4, Brynlee Wuethrich with 2, and Nella Lakin with 1. Kills came from across the lineup with Paige Hurley recording 2, and Azzie Agnew, Marlee Graf, Lexi Rehn, and Leia Rendant each adding 1. Hitting percentages were solid with Azzie Agnew going 5/7, Marlee Graf 3/3, Paige Hurley and Lexi Rehn each 2/3, and Brynlee Wuethrich 2/7. The B team also showed strong teamwork and effort but fell in two sets, 25–17 and 25–19, bringing their record to 0–2. Serving highlights included Nella Lakin at 3/3, Mia Ruiz 3/6, Aliyah Steele 3/6 with 1 ace, and Bianca Aponte 2/4 with 1 ace. Passing was sharp with Bianca Aponte leading at 10/11, Mia Ruiz a perfect 9/9, Aryonnah Fontaine 9/10, Nella Lakin 6/6, and Khloee Hanley and Cheyenne Yoder each 2/3. At the net, Nella Lakin tallied 1 kill, while Cheyenne Yoder led in tips with 2, and Bianca Aponte, Aryonnah Fontaine, Mia Ruiz, and Aliyah Steele each added 1. Both teams faced some tough volleys and moments of miscommunication tonight, but the Bombers never stopped working and continued to fight for every point. Each match is a learning opportunity, and the team will use this experience to come back stronger and more focused. The Lady Bombers will be back in action Thursday evening when they take on the Benton Central Lady Bison.
